We all have to start somewhere, right?
At this point, I'm looking for a roll call of sorts. A showing of hands for all who are ready to take the challenge and join Operation Gettin' Less Jiggly With It (OGLJWI).
And I'm looking for opinions. Do we post starting weight or are people just not quite comfortable enough to share that information with the world? Do we track pounds lost, pants sizes dropped, percentage of weight loss? Are we looking to add a little extra incentive to this operation in the form of a prize? Before and after pictures? Give me your thoughts.
What I also envision is, for those who are willing, having each of you added on as co-contributors to this blog. This would give you access to posting and would allow for narratives from all of us to document our highs and lows along the way, sort of like a collaborative on-line journal. For those who aren't comfortable doing this yourself you can always email me a submission and I would be happy to post it for you. I know that I definitely want to do to a little "spotlight" on each participant where I'll ask you to lay out your personal goals and let the rest of us in on what you're plan of action is much like I did earlier. In addition to that I thought we could add little features or nuggets of information we might find along the way - websites that are helpful, healthy recipes to share, fun ways to get moving and burn calories, etc.
So, who's in?

The Garbage Disposal and Munchkin are definitely in and we are both in agreement that we should go by percentage and not total pounds...especially if there is a prize involved. The Garbage Disposal really isn't concerned about pounds, it's that her used to have muscle from the row row rowing of boats has waived bye bye. I had an idea that we maybe could do some sort of pool, couple bucks or something of that nature and the winner takes all. We are also willing to disclose all information and give before and after pictures. We would also gladly contribute nutritional advice both for mind and body.
I also noticed the health tip of the day. (the one about caloric balance if you don't read this until later) It's also important to remember that everyone has a basal metabolic rate (calories you burn just keeping your body functioning even while you physically doing nothing). I will post about this later as I am not yet to this in my Exercise Physiology class.
I also think we should go by percentages. This will be so much fun! Please add me as a contributor.
Just another helpful hint - I cut out beer for a few weeks almost completely, and immediately dropped five pounds in a week. Amazing!
I ventured here. I still plan on keeping track of my goals on my own blog though. Maybe I could just be an honorary member, or you can erect a shrine at the top of the blog to me or something, since I was the inspiration for this whole thing. ;)
I'd like to be in. I'm a snacker, in that I tend to eat pretty healthy meals, but snack in between like a crazy person! I could use some positive reinforcement and comradery.
I'm up for anything; photos, prizes, pounds, percentage, whatever. Remember, I tried to start getting myself back in shape last year around this time, and to little avail. I'm the king of excuses for not exercising, so the support of a group may be just thing I need.
I'll even be a contributor if you'd like.
Oh dear me. My Mom is coming for a visit at Thanksgiving and I would SO love for her to not have any reason to comment about me grabbing a second piece of pie.
I am in.
I would prefer to NOT post my weight. I would gladly post my size, and the size I would like to be, and progress pictures. Or post my goal loss (and not just the start number, it is horrific).
I am with rikki. The scale number is just to BIG. Pant size, inches.
Gramma Poke.
I'd like to be involved too! Swanny and I are an eternal journey trying to eat and live more healthily...It's tricky for me right now with the whole weight/size thing...Despite giving birth 3 months ago to my second child, I'm not p-o'd about my weight right now, however--I'm nursing an ever hungry (and growing) infant. As with Peanut, it helps like a drug to shed pounds and inches...but it's artifical and they'll come rushing back as soon as he weans...so I'm not sure I'm the best candidate for any contests, but would love to be invovled in the exercising, healthy eating business that goes on here!
By the way, Mrs. - I love the fact that there are cupcakes on the Jiggly With It blog. How inspirational. Are these cyber-cupcakes supposed to satisfy us?
Exactly, Tina! This background was way cuter than all the fruit related backgrounds, but I think I'll switch it up to strawberries in the next couple of days.
Consider these cupcakes your last hurrah, everyone!
